Police continue search for Hanover homicide suspect

Anne Arundel County police are searching for a man accused of killing his wife overnight in a Hanover Dunkin Donuts.

Anne Arundel County police Tuesday afternoon were still searching for a man accused of killing his wife over the weekend in a Hanover Dunkin Donuts.

Bhadreshkumar Patel, 24, has been missing since Sunday night, when police discovered his wife, Palak Patel, 21, dead in the kitchen of the shop on Arundel Mills Boulevard.

Evidence at the scene linked Bhadreshkumar to his wife's homicide, police said. Both worked at the doughnut shop.

Police obtained a warrant charging Bhadreshkumar with first- and second-degree murder, assault and a weapon offense, police said. Police are urging the public not to give the man any assistance.

A concerned customer alerted an officer about possible trouble at the business when no employees could be found inside, police said.

When police checked the business at about 10:50 p.m., Patel was found dead. Police said the woman was struck multiple times with an object, though a police spokesman declined to identify that object.

Investigators believe Bhadreshkumar fled after killing his wife, police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said.

Officers searched the area – using vehicles, aviation and K-9 units – throughout the day Monday and will continue the search on Tuesday, Mulcahy said.
