A bicyclist was killed in a collision with a motor vehicle early Tuesday morning near BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Lt. Kevin Ayd, spokesman for Maryland Transportation Authority Police, said Jeremy Pope, of Hanover, was killed after he was struck from behind by a vehicle being driven by Walter Haber, of Severn.
Ayd said Pope was riding his bicycle near the BWI Trail, a hiker-biker pathway that runs around much of the airport in Linthicum, around 12:30 a.m. when he was struck from behind by Haber's 2014 Kia Optima.
Pope was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. Haber was not reported injured.
Ayd said the crash is still under investigation by the Maryland Transportation Authority Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and did not say whether Haber will face charges related to Pope's death.
