Annapolis Center

Ray 'Apollo' Allen and company sing the songs of Motown at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Trudy Marie Woomer sings country classics at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 22.

Red Right Return performs at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. Also, the center will host an ice cream sandwich social.

The Bates Jazz Ensemble will perform at the center's Halloween party at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. Attendees are encouraged to wear black and orange or anything Halloween.

Arnold Center

O'Malley Center

Quilt Club Participants can help one another with projects and learn ideas and techniques at 1 p.m. Fridays at the O'Malley Annex. Sewing machines are available. New members are welcome.

Pascal Center

South County Center

Medicare minutes Representatives from the Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program and Senior Medicare Patrol will make a presentation on benefits, options for coverage, costs, and open enrollment at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14. A Q&A; session follows.

'Music with Capt. Chuck Fisher' The vocalist and guitarist, semi-retired Chesapeake Bay fishing guide and competitor in the Maryland Senior Idol contest sings classic and modern country music from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Flower arranging The Four Rivers Garden Club supplies all the materials to make a fall flower arrangement from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 20.

Housing opportunities Marie Simpson, a real estate specialist with Long and Foster, will provide an update on 55+ housing communities and options for aging in place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20. Learn about opportunities for downsizing, financing and resources in the county.

Fall classes The fall session is underway and registration is being held at all Anne Arundel Community College locations through the second week of classes. Registration fee is $80. Students younger than 60 also pay a fee of $40 per course. Class schedules are available at the center.

The Knitting Group meets from 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Mondays of each month. All levels of knitting expertise are welcome.

Beginning tap dance An introduction to tap will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays. No experience is needed; the instructor is Vicki Smith. Fee is $40.

Jazz dance Vicki Smith leads a class from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays. All levels of experience are welcome. Fee is $40.

Creative Crafts Evelyn Bacon will lead classes from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays. Fee is $40.

Aquacise An exercise program conducted in warm water to improve flexibility, mobility and range of motion and boost stamina will take place from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center, 2690 Riva Road in Annapolis. Cost is $40.

Single seniors group The group encourages companionship, support and group participation in activities such as movies, dances, picnics and tours. Information: 410-222-6680 or go to http://www.aacounty.org/aging (click on South County Senior Center).

Senior housing

Information on assisted-living homes and other housing options for seniors has been updated on the county Department of Aging and Disabilities website at aacounty.org/aging.

Support groups

The Department of Aging and Disabilities has updated a booklet on community support groups. The booklet focuses on groups for caregivers, Alzheimer's disease, bereavement for adults and children, diabetes, brain injury, cancer, stroke, cardiac and pulmonary problems, Parkinson's disease, and bowel and urinary diversions. The booklet is free and available at the department, 2666 Riva Road, fourth floor, in Annapolis, or online at aacounty.org/aging/resources/community_support_groups.pdf. Information: 410-222-4257.
