Annapolis Police say Robert Allan Stewart, 36, was reported missing 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 after he didn't show up for work at Mills Fine Wine & Spirits on Main Street in downtown Annapolis. He was last seen at about 1 a.m. that morning, police said.

Annapolis police and state authorities are searching the waters around City Dock Wednesday morning for the body of a man who went missing last week.

Robert Allan Stewart, 36, was reported missing at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 after he didn't show up for work at Mills Fine Wine & Spirits on Main Street in downtown Annapolis, according to Annapolis police. He was last seen at about 1 a.m. that morning, police said.

Natural Resources Police were brought in to assist in the water search with side-scan sonar, DNR spokeswoman Candy Thomson said. The search began at about 8 a.m. and as of about 9:30 a.m., no trace of Stewart had been found, Annapolis police spokeswoman Cpl. Amy Miguez said.

Miguez said there was "no indication" that Stewart had gone into the water, but that detectives wanted to exhaust all options in the search.

"That's the last place he was seen," she said. "That's the only thing we have to go on right now."

There are no video cameras that would have captured Stewart in the area where he went missing, Miguez said.

His friends were set to hold a search party in downtown Annapolis Wednesday night. Police said on Tuesday that his case had been classified as "critical."

Stewart is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray fleece coat, police said. He is originally from North Carolina and graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis.
