Anne Arundel County police detectives set up a prostitution sting in the Linthicum Hotel District that resulted in the arrest of three men and 51 calls or text messages from people interested in illegal sex.
Detectives posed as escorts on a website "commonly used for the purpose of prostitution" on Oct. 2, police said. They fielded several phone calls and text messages from people negotiating prices, asking "feeler" questions and scheduling appointments for future rendezvous. Police said they are reviewing the phone numbers used to contact undercover detectives in an attempt to identify the callers.
Three men were charged with prostitution and assignation after they responded to the Internet ads:
Ibrahim Aruna, 45, of Severn; Ryan Matthew Saul, 39, of Baltimore; Gopal Chandru Knowdley, 27, of Ellicott City.
