Annapolis Center

European river cruise The center's trip committee is accepting reservations for a cruise next summer on the Danube. The Aug. 2-13 trip includes visits to Prague, Budapest and Vienna. The price depends on the cabin. A deposit is due by Oct. 15. For reservations and information, stop at the Trip Desk. Fliers about this trip and others planned for 2014 are available.

Pasadena Center

Art class Pat Michalski teaches an eight-week class, "Creative Painting Egg Shell," from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 20. Cost is $40.

Flu shots Safeway Pharmacy will host a shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30. Free with your Medicare Part B card or $30 for non-Medicare Part B patients. Participants must be 18 or older. Registration suggested.

Sing Along With John will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

Ask the Appraisers Bring gems, jewelry, gold, silver and coins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. Find out what you have, its origin, how old it is, how you can get it repaired or restored and where to sell it.

Music Frank Curreri sings Frank Sinatra songs at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18; Tim Amann of the Pet Rock Band spins oldies at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24.

Hearing screenings Chesapeake Hearing Center will conduct free screenings from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Halloween party Come dressed in your favorite costume for the Halloween Costume Parade at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. Ray Apollo Allen and the Apollo One Band will provide the music.

•Ray "Apollo" Allen, formerly of The Apollos, performs at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21.

•Good Measure sings oldies, country, Elvis, and more at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.

•"Mr. Charisma," also known as Camron Robertson, sings the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and more at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28.

Organizing Your Digital Photos Photographer Don Dement will instruct a class from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, beginning Nov. 21 and continuing on Dec. 5, 12 and 19. Participants will learn to store their photo files, use the computer for searching and easy retrieval, how to use photos for slide shows, prints and email, and how to ensure against accidental loss. Space is limited.

Beginning tap dance An introduction to tap will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays. No experience is needed; the instructor is Vicki Smith. Fee is $40.

Jazz dance Vicki Smith leads a class from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fridays. All levels of experience are welcome. Fee is $40.

Creative Crafts Evelyn Bacon will lead classes from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays. Fee is $40.

Aquacise An exercise program conducted in warm water to improve flexibility, mobility and range of motion and boost stamina will take place from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center, 2690 Riva Road in Annapolis. Cost is $40.

Single seniors group The Single Seniors Group encourages companionship, support and group participation in activities such as movies, dances, picnics and tours. Information: 410-222-6680 or go to (click on South County Senior Center).

Health insurance program

The Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program offers free, one-on-one insurance counseling to persons with Medicare. A SHIP representative will give a presentation at the following locations for Medicare prescription drug plans' annual enrollment period, which runs Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.

Fall classes

The Arnold Senior Center, 44 Church Road, offers more than 50 classes for the fall session, including exercise, art and crafts, history, foreign languages, music, and continuing education. Classes include two new computer classes, Computer Awareness from 10 a.m. to noon Thursdays and Windows 7 Basic from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays. Registration and fees are required. Information on assisted-living homes and other housing options for seniors has been updated on the county Department of Aging and Disabilities website at

Support groups

The Department of Aging and Disabilities has updated a booklet on community support groups. The booklet focuses on groups for caregivers, Alzheimer's disease, bereavement for adults and children, diabetes, brain injury, cancer, stroke, cardiac and pulmonary problems, Parkinson's disease and bowel and urinary diversions. Residents' rights

Brochures on residents' rights in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities and a brochure on the ombudsman program protecting those residents are available from the Department of Aging and Disabilities. The brochures are titled "Resident's Rights in Nursing Homes/Rehabilitation Centers in Maryland," "Resident's Rights in Assisted Living Facilities in Maryland" and "Ombudsman: Your Resident Advocate."
