Anne Arundel County Police have charged a Glen Burnie man with attempted murder in connection with a shooting at a Glen Burnie gas station last week.
A 21-year-old man from Millersville was a passenger in a car that was leaving the Sunoco gas station on Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie just after 1 a.m. on Sept. 24, when another car pulled up, the driver got out and shot twice at the car, police said
The passenger was hit once in the abdomen and was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Police said the shooting was not random and may be drug-related.
Detectives said they used witness interviews and "additional investigative means" to charge Clayton Leonard Mooring Jr., 39, of the 400 block of Ingram Court in Glen Burnie in connection with the shooting.
He was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, using a firearm while committing a violent crime and handgun charges.
While searching Mooring's home, police said they found a handgun that was stolen from Montgomery County. That resulted in more charges: illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, possession of a firearm after a drug conviction and possession of a stolen firearm.
Mooring was being held Friday on $5 million bond in the attempted murder case and $100,000 bond in the firearms case at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.
