Anne Arundel County Police last week arrested a North Carolina man who they said was using a party promotion business in the county as a front for human trafficking and prostitution.
Michael D. Boswell Jr., 30, of Raleigh, N.C., was arrested June 20 on charges related to human trafficking, prostitution and possession of marijuana.
Also arrested were Ashley Gassaway, 22, of Greensboro, N.C. and Regina A. Tyson, 19, of no fixed address. Both were charged with prostitution and possession of paraphernalia, police said.
County police said on June 19, detectives from the vice unit saw an online advertisement that contained photos of a female who police described as "young looking," and that prompted police to conduct surveillance and an undercover operation.
Police said they determined two adult females and an adult male were involved in a prostitution business working out of a Linthicum area hotel. Police allege the man was provided transportation so female prostitutes could meet with dates at other hotels.
A search warrant was issued June 20 for two hotel rooms and a vehicle, and Boswell, Gassaway and Tyson were arrested without incident.
Police said they then contacted law enforcement officials in Henrico County, Va. and Raleigh, N.C., and determined Boswell was out on bond for felony pandering and prostitution charges in Henrico County, and on probation in Raleigh.
