Seminar

A community seminar on the basics of the Christian faith will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road in Pasadena. Topics include the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Communion and others. Participants will use Martin Luther's Small Catechism as a framework for the study. Pastor Hank Simon is the seminar leader. All materials will be furnished. Lunch is provided. Child care is available if requested by noon Wednesday, Aug. 17. New pastor

The Rev. James Bishop Sr. has been appointed to Asbury Town Neck United Methodist Church, 429 Asbury Drive in Severna Park. For the past eight years, he has served as pastor of Goshen United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg. Worship services are at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sundays. All are welcome.

Educators' Sunday

Woods Presbyterian Church will honor and bless educators during the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, Aug. 21, at the church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park.
