Correctional Center
Volunteers age 21 and older who pass a background check are needed at the county Correctional Center to serve as adult literacy tutors, to assist in the library and the sewing program, as a newsletter editor and as a photographer for special programs and events. Habitat for Humanity

Help for troubled youths
Hearts & Homes for Youth needs volunteers age 18 and older for tutoring, mentoring, internships, recreation sponsors, renovation projects, office assistance and beautification projects. Hospice of the Chesapeake
The organization seeks volunteers to join the "Tuck-In-Team." They will call patient caregivers on Thursdays from the Annapolis office and check whether they have enough medications and supplies to last the weekend. Lab Rescue
Volunteers are needed at the Lab Rescue of the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac to assist with Adopt-a-Lab Day on weekends, to transport dogs to and from vets and shelters, evaluate dogs before accepting them into the system, conduct home visits in connection with adoptions and provide foster homes. Maryland Food Bank
Volunteers are needed for two- to three-hour shifts Mondays-Fridays at 2200 Halethorpe Farms Road to help sort and box food. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Information: 410-737-8282, ext. 232.
Moveable Feast
Moveable Feast, a nonprofit organization, provides home-delivered meals for clients who are homebound with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers, who can be as young as 16 (15 or younger with an adult), are needed to deliver meals between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meal delivery takes about an hour. Scheduling is flexible. Volunteers are asked to deliver once a week or once a month. Rebuilding Together
Plumbers, electricians, roofers, tillers, painters, installers of drywall, carpeting and floors, and general workers are needed for this all-volunteer nonprofit that repairs and revitalizes homes of low-income elderly and low-income disabled homeowners, as well as homes of low-income families with children. Support groups
Volunteers age 25 and older are needed to lead support groups for people with early-stage Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Volunteers must be licensed nurses or social workers with knowledge of the progression of the disease and have strong communication and group-support management skills. Train guide dogs
Volunteers are needed to raise puppies to become guide dogs and prepare them for formal training. The volunteers, who can be as young as 13 with parental supervision, take the puppies into their homes for 14 to 18 months and teach them manners and social skills. In addition to working and playing daily with their dogs, the volunteers attend classes and puppy evaluations.
