A father suspected of stabbing his wife and daughters at the family home in Crofton will face attempted- second-degree-murder and related charges, Anne Arundel County police said.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant Thursday for Julio Cesar Esquetini, 49, of the 1600 block of Forest Hill Court in the Crofton Meadows Four townhouse community. He was under police guard at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.
The victims — his wife, also 49, and daughters, ages 20 and 13 — were in fair condition at the same hospital, he said.
One of the daughters called 911 about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, telling emergency workers that her father had stabbed her mother and her and her sister, police said. The mother was taken from the home in a pressurized suit, and the daughters were in better condition, according to neighbors. All three suffered injuries to the upper parts of their bodies.
Police found Esquetini in the woods behind the townhouses. They did not know if his injuries were self-inflicted.
Police said there had been no previous calls to the home, and neighbors described a quiet, polite family. Neighbors also said the younger daughter had just completed seventh grade at Crofton Middle School, and the older one was a University of Maryland student.
