Theater

The Colonial Players production of the comedy "The Shape of Things" is on stage through June 25 at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Auditions

Workshops for adults

Adults can explore their creative side in one-day workshops at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St. in Annapolis. Workshops are for a variety of skill levels.

Ahoy!

"Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake," a themed event for children, returns for another season in Annapolis harbor. Children can get their faces painted, dress as pirates and participate in a treasure hunt on the water. Search for sunken treasure while using water cannons in defense against enemy pirates. 'Recycle Forward'

Hillsmere Elementary School in Annapolis is participating in a program that recycles used technology to raise money for new technology. A donation drive runs through the end of the school year for used cellphones, inkjet and laser cartridges, laptops, PDAs, iPods, MP3 players, video games, GPS systems, DVDs, calculators, LCD monitors and digital cameras. "Recycle Forward" is a joint effort of "Cartridges for Kids," a recycling program that pays cash to schools, and Digital Wish, a nonprofit that puts technology into the hands of educators. Register your bike

The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle registration program. The owner's name, address, phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the department's database. Registration is available to any Annapolis resident. Law Enforcement Explorers

The Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Post 199 is accepting applications. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for those who have completed eighth grade and are 14 to 20 years old. The program offers information on career activities. Doll collection

Fingerprinting service

The Annapolis Police Department offers a fingerprinting service at 199 Taylor Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays. Service will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of the month. The fee is $5 per fingerprint card, and the person being printed must supply the cards. Check or money order only. Tours of historic house

The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season. Tours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Group tours are by appointment. The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research, 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays year-round. Guided arboretum walks

On Saturdays through November, visitors can explore Adkins Arboretum's diverse plant communities on a guided walk led by a naturalist. Explore the bottomland forest and upland paths, meander through beech trees, traverse native meadows and follow the narrow Tuckahoe Creekside. The 11 a.m. walks are free with admission for the park. 'Soup 'n' Walk'

Adkins Arboretum offers its "Soup 'n' Walk" program Saturday, June 18, at 12610 Eveland Road near Tuckahoe State Park in Ridgely. Following a guided walk through the arboretum's forest, meadows and wetlands, participants can enjoy lunch along with a brief lesson about the meal's nutritional value. Copies of recipes will be provided. Interested persons can register for either a one- or two-hour walk to see lady fern, cinnamon fern, New York fern, Christmas fern, netted chain fern, Indian cucumber, bluets, blackberry, deerberry and arrowwood blooms. Menu features light and fresh vegetable soup, gingered cantaloupe with kiwi, double oat bread with wild blueberry jam, and red, white and blue trifle. Cost is $25 per person, $20 for members.
