"Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake," a themed event for children, returns for another season in the Annapolis harbor. Children can get their faces painted, dress up as pirates and participate in a treasure hunt on the water. Search for sunken treasure while using water cannons in defense against enemy pirates. Golf tournaments

•The Fort Meade Directorate of Emergency Services will hold a First Responder Golf Classic, 9 a.m. on May 20, at The Courses, 6800 Mapes Road. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with breakfast provided. An awards banquet with dinner will be held after the tournament. Tournament play is a captain's choice best ball with a four-player team. Prizes will be awarded for long drive, straight drive and closest to pin. Prizes will also be awarded for top-placed teams as well as door prizes. Cost is $65 for members and $85 for non-members. •Archbishop Spalding High School will host the annual Lt. James H. Love Memorial Golf Tournament at the Queenstown Harbor Golf Courses on June 9. Tournament was established to honor the memory of Lt. James H. Love, a 1977 Spalding graduate and U.S. Navy pilot lost during Operation Desert Shield. Golfers can register in foursomes or individually. Cost includes greens fees, a bag filled with gifts, lunch and dinner catered by Adam's Ribs of Eastport. In addition, players have the chance to participate in longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one competitions. Festival

The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society will hold its annual Strawberry Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 11 at the Benson-Hammond House, 7101 Aviation Blvd. in Linthicum. Activities include strawberry shortcake, bake sale, raffles, crafters, flea market tables and book sale. Information: aachs.org.

Concert series

The Columbia Jazz Band opens the season for the William Paca Garden Concert Series at 6 p.m. on May 19 at 186 Prince George St. in Annapolis. Concert-goers can take advantage of terrace seating or bring blankets and picnic on the Paca House lawn (no bottles or spirits). A cash bar will be available for snacks and beverages, ID required for all beer and wine purchases. Admission is $10, $12 at the door; $5 for children ages 5-15, free for children 5 and younger. Theater production

Colonial Players' production of the comedy "Lettice and Lovage" will be presented Sunday, May 8, through May 28 at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sundays, and a 7:30 p.m. show on May 15. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Strawberry festival

Annual strawberry festival will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 7606 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie. There will be craft tables, baked goods and a white elephant sale. Outside yard sale spaces will be available at $10 per space. Hot dogs, barbecue, salads and beverages will be available for purchase. Auditions

Bowie Community Theatre will hold auditions for the roles of four men and four women in "The Language of Angels" at 7:30 p.m. Monday-Tuesday, May 9-10, with callbacks on Wednesday, May 11 at Bowie Playhouse, White Marsh Recreation Park, 16500 White Marsh Park Drive, Bowie. Guided arboretum walks

On Saturdays through November, visitors can explore Adkins Arboretum's diverse plant communities on a guided walk led by an arboretum naturalist. Explore the bottomland forest and upland paths, meander through beech trees, traverse the native meadows and follow the narrow Tuckahoe Creekside. The 11 a.m. walks are free for members and free with admission for the public. The hour-long tours begin at the visitors center. Information: 410-634-2847.

'Recycle Forward'

Hillsmere Elementary School in Annapolis is participating in a program that recycles used technology to raise money for new technology. There is a donation drive through the end of the school year for donations of used cell phones, inkjet and laser cartridges, laptops, PDAs, iPods, MP3 players, video games, GPS systems, DVDs, calculators, LCD monitors and digital cameras. "Recycle Forward" is a joint effort between "Cartridges for Kids," a recycling program that pays cash to schools, and Digital Wish, a nonprofit that puts technology into the hands of educators. Register your bike

The Annapolis Police Department sponsors a bicycle registration program. When an owner registers a bike, the owner's name, address and phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the Police Department's database. Any resident of Annapolis can register a bike. To schedule an appointment, contact Cpl. Craig Medley at 410-268-9000, ext. 7225, or cemedley@annapolis.gov. Owners must bring their bikes when registering. Neighborhood associations should contact Medley if they want to hold a community registration.

Law Enforcement Explorers

The Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Post 199 is accepting applications. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for those who have completed eighth grade and are 14 to 20 years old. The program offers information on career activities. Fingerprinting service

The Annapolis Police Department offers fingerprinting service at 199 Taylor Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays. Service will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of the month. The fee is $5 per fingerprint card, and the person being printed must supply the cards. Check or money order only. Tours of historic house

The Ann Arrundell County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season. Tours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Group tours are by appointment. The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research, 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays year-round.
