Film discussion Anne Arundel Community College Student Education Association will host a viewing and discussion of "Waiting for Superman," at 6 p.m. in the Pascal Center for Performing Arts on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Discussion takes place from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The documentary, released last year, follows a group of students with academic promise as they struggle in a school system that inhibits academic growth. Meeting The League of Women Voters of Anne Arundel County sponsors a meeting from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park, to explore the facts, fantasies and future of health care reform. Concert The U.S. Naval Academy Band performs 7:30 p.m. at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, 15200 Annapolis Road. The band will perform arrangements from the orchestral repertoire of "The Pines of Rome" by Ottorino Resphigi and "Radetsky March" by Johann Strauss. Yard sale The Shady Side Rural Heritage Society sponsors a peninsulawide yard sale beginning at 8 a.m. April 30. These subdivisions will have a central display area, and individual residents may choose to have their separate sales. Event takes place rain or shine. Theme night at the ballpark The Bowie Baysox holds NASCAR Night on Saturday, April 30, as the team takes the field at 6:35 p.m. against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Event features a Nationwide Series stock car, the Nationwide NASCAR simulator and NASCAR giveaways. Throughout the game, fans can compete in trivia contests and win prizes. Parking is free.
