Summer internship program
The Maryland State Archives is accepting applications for its summer student intern program that is open to high school and undergraduate or graduate students attending Maryland schools or Maryland residents attending out-of-state schools. These are paid internships that include experience and training in archival records management, digital imaging and historical research methods.
The 10-week program runs from June 8 through Aug. 16. Qualifications for applicants include academic excellence, preferably with an interest in history, archival science, library science, computer science, American studies or related fields. The application process is competitive and details can be accessed on the organization's website at msa.md.gov/msa/educ/html/interns.html. Applications must be postmarked on or before April 5. Applicants will be notified of decisions by April 29.

Theater
The Colonial Players' production of "Company," Stephen Sondheim's musical about life and love in Manhattan, begins Friday, March 18, and runs through April 16, at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Spring event
Archbishop Spalding High School holds its annual "Spalding Spring Sensation," a benefit auction and dinner at 6 p.m. March 26 in the school's athletic center, 8080 New Cut Road in Severn. The event, "African Safari," feature a catered buffet, an open bar, and a live and silent auction. In addition, raffle tickets are available for $100 with a chance to win $6,000 cash or free tuition for the 2011-2012 school year. Tickets are $75 per person. Reservations recommended. Open house for Wellness House
The Wellness House of Annapolis will hold an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, for community members interested in learning more about the organization and its support programs for families, children, patients, survivors and caregivers. Golf tournament for Maryland Hall
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts will host a best-ball-format golf tournament, "Chip in for the Arts," on April 28 at Compass Pointe Golf Course in Pasadena. Each player on the first-place team will receive a round of golf, a gift certificate to the Compass Pointe Pro Shop and a championship plaque. Prizes will also be awarded for second- and third-place finishes.

Rotary 5k run/walk
Registration is open for the April 9 "Moving Around the World" 5K Run and Walk sponsored by the Rotary Club of Annapolis and the Rotaract Club of Annapolis. Event will be held in Quiet Waters Park's Sassafras Pavilion off Hillsmere Drive in Annapolis. Advance registration is $25; $30 on day of event; free for children 12 and younger. Sign-in and race packet pickup is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with runners beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the walkers. Advance registration must be made by April 1. Rotary grant applications
The Rotary Club of Annapolis is accepting grant applications until Tuesday, March 15, to distribute the proceeds from its annual crab feast in August.

'Recycle Forward'
Hillsmere Elementary School in Annapolis is participating in a program that recycles used technology to raise money for new technology. There is a donation drive through the end of the school year for donations of used cell phones, inkjet and laser cartridges, laptops, PDAs, iPods, MP3 players, video games, GPS systems, DVDs, calculators, LCD monitors and digital cameras. "Recycle Forward" is a joint effort between "Cartridges for Kids," a recycling program that pays cash to schools, and Digital Wish, a nonprofit that puts technology into the hands of educators. Baseball league
The Chesapeake Men's Senior Baseball League is seeking teams and players to fill rosters for the coming season. There are divisions for players older than 25, older than 35 and older than 45. Senior Idol

Register your bike
The Annapolis Police Department sponsors a bicycle registration program. When an owner registers a bike, the owner's name, address and phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the Police Department's database. Any resident of Annapolis can register a bike. To schedule an appointment, call Cpl. Craig Medley at 410-268-9000, ext. 7225, or e-mail him at cemedley@annapolis.gov. Owners must bring their bikes when registering. Neighborhood associations should contact Medley if they want to hold a community registration.
Law enforcement Explorers open
The Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Post 199 is accepting applications. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for those who have completed eighth grade and are 14 to 20 years old. The program offers information on career activities. Fingerprinting service
The Annapolis Police Department offers fingerprinting service at 199 Taylor Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays. Service will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of the month. The fee is $5 per fingerprint card, and the person being printed must supply the cards. Check or money order only. Tours of historic house
The Anne Arundel County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season. Tours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Group tours are by appointment. The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research, 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays year-round.
