The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities has published its 2010-2011 edition of "Services for Seniors, Adults with Disabilities and Caregivers," a free directory of businesses and service providers. Copies are available at department headquarters at the Heritage Office Complex, 2666 Riva Road, Annapolis, and at the seven senior activity centers, libraries, Food Lion, Wawa and CVS stores. Coming trips

•The Annapolis Senior Activity Center will sponsor a trip March 2 to Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia to see "I Left My Heart," a salute to Tony Bennett. Cost is $65. Information: 410-222-1818.

•Members of the Annapolis Senior Activity Center can stop by the Trip Desk for a preview of 2011 trips. Reservations and deposits can be made. Trips include "Jersey Boys" at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" at the Riverside Center Dinner Theater in Fredericksburg, Va., and "Wicked" at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. Information: 410-222-1818.

•Reservations can be made at the O'Malley Senior Center in Odenton for the Rainbow Dinner Theatre's presentation of "Send Me No Flowers" on Feb. 17 in Paradise, Pa. Cost is $75 and includes transportation, lunch and show. Bus leaves from the center, 1275 Odenton Road, at 9:15 a.m. and returns at 5:15 p.m. Reservations and information: 410-222-6227.

2011 calendar

A calendar featuring the Showstoppers performance troupe at the South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane in Edgewater, is on sale. Photographs are by Denise Miller, an office support assistant at the center, and Vicki Smith, originator of the troupe. Calendar photos focus on the variety of talents in the 41-member group, which includes singers, comedians, musicians, dancers and line dance groups. Cost is $10. Information: 410-222-1927.

Information on assisted-living homes and other housing options for seniors has been updated on the county Department of Aging and Disabilities website at aacounty.org/aging.

Arnold Senior Activity Center The following activities will be offered at the center, 44 Church Road, Arnold. Information: 410-222-1922:

Scrabble: Challenge your brain by playing Scrabble, 12:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays. New participants are welcome. 410-222-1922.

Sweetheart Dance with Larry Laser: Singles and couples older than 55 are invited to an afternoon of ballroom and line dancing, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 9. Light refreshments provided.

Single seniors group The Single Seniors Group at Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie, encourages companionship, support and group participation in activities such as movies, dances, picnics and tours. Memoir writing The course, which teaches how to write an autobiography, will be held 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Arnold Senior Activity Center. There will be an opportunity to learn listening and interviewing skills, writing tips and proofreading. Information and registration: 410-222-1922.

Health insurance A representative from the Senior Health Insurance Program is available by appointment to discuss health insurance concerns at the Arnold Senior Activity Center. Appointments and information: 410-222-1922.

Volunteer grandparents sought The Foster Grandparents Program of the county Department of Aging and Disabilities seeks volunteer grandparents to help mentor children with special needs. Volunteers serve 15 to 40 hours a week, providing mentoring, tutoring, advice and attention, teaching life skills to children in special education classes, staffing a homeless shelter, a family support center and other agencies. Activities may include reading stories, listening, helping children feed themselves, setting the table, working with puzzles, and helping children learn colors, numbers and the alphabet. Volunteers must be income-eligible and at least 60 years old. Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, vacation, sick leave, free transportation, lunch and a physical exam.
