Workshops
The AAC Department of Aging and Disabilities presents free workshops from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays through Feb. 25 at the Arnold Senior Center, 44 Church Road. "Living Healthy with Chronic Conditions" is a self-management program for adults to help them handle their chronic conditions, which may include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, obesity, chronic pain or anxiety, and heart disease. Bus trip
The Meade Area Garden is sponsoring a bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on March 7. The bus departs from the Ridgeview Shopping Center at 8:45 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. Cost for the bus is $41 for garden club members, $46 for others. The amount must be paid when making reservations. No refunds after Feb. 14 unless there is a waiting list for a seat. 'Recycle Forward'
Hillsmere Elementary School in Annapolis is participating in this program, which recycles used technology to raise money for new technology. There will be a community drive through the end of the school year for donations of used cell phones, inkjet and laser cartridges, old laptops, PDAs, iPods, MP3 players, video games, GPS systems, DVDs, calculators, LCD monitors and digital cameras. "Recycle Forward" is a joint effort between "Cartridges for Kids," a recycling program that pays cash to schools, and "Digital Wish," a nonprofit that works to bring technology into the hands of educators. Baseball league
The Chesapeake Men's Senior Baseball League is seeking teams and/or players to fill rosters for the coming season. There are divisions for players over age 25, over 35 and over 45. Senior Idol
The fifth annual Maryland Senior Competition and Benefit will be held March 30 at the Chesapeake Arts Center Theater, 194 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park. Auditions take place Feb. 18 at the Pascal Senior Activity Center, 125 Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie. Rules, registration forms, and a photo release and consent form will be available at all seven senior centers in Anne Arundel County or online at aacounty.org/aging. Register your bike
The Annapolis Police Department has announced a new bicycle registration program. When an owner registers a bike, the owner's name, address and phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the Police Department's database. Any resident of Annapolis can register a bike. To schedule an appointment, call Cpl. Craig Medley at 410-268-9000, ext. 7225, or e-mail him at cemedley@annapolis.gov. Owners must bring their bikes when registering. Neighborhood associations should contact Medley if they want to hold a communitywide registration.
Law enforcement
The Annapolis Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer Post 199 is accepting applications. Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for those who have completed eighth grade and are 14 to 20 years old. The program offers information on career activities. Meetings are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at police headquarters, 199 Taylor Ave. in Annapolis. Information: 410-268-9000 or at the office.
Doll collection

Fingerprinting service
The Annapolis Police Department offers fingerprinting service at 199 Taylor Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays. Service will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of the month. The fee is $5 per fingerprint card, and the person being printed must supply the cards. Check or money order only. Tours of historic house
The Anne Arundel County Historical Society has opened the historic Benson-Hammond House and North Browse and Buy Shoppe at Aviation Boulevard and Andover Road in Linthicum for the season. Tours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. Group tours are by appointment. The Kuethe Library for Historical and Genealogical Research, 5 Crain Highway S.E., operated jointly with the Anne Arundel Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays year-round.
