Police investigate fatal shooting of man, 23, in Severn home

Anne Arundel County police were investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man inside a Severn home early Friday and said they believe the victim was targeted.

Officers found Vejar Deaunte Rodwell suffering from a gunshot wound in his upper torso about 12:02 a.m. in the 1700 block of Richfield Drive, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rodwell's body was taken to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, police said.

Based on their preliminary investigation, homicide detectives believe a man forced his way inside the home and shot Rodwell before fleeing, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Detective Jason DiPietro at 410-222-3415 or the department at 410-222-8610.
