AACC student activities fair

A student activities fair sponsored by the AACC Students Association Campus Activities Board will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Student Union dining hall on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Learn about and sign up for student clubs. Free. Information: 410-777-2218.

Round table discussion

"The War Ends in North Carolina," a Chesapeake Civil War Round Table discussion led by Mark Bradley, takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Cade Center on AACC Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. Free. Information: 410-777-2428.

Scholarships

The Anne Arundel County branch of the American Association of University Women will offer three one-year financial awards of $2,000 each for the 2011-2012 academic year. Eligible candidates are women who have attended AACC and are planning to attend or continuing to attend a four-year college or university. Scholarships are intended to ease the financial burden of the undergraduate transferring student who has attained junior or higher academic standing. Other criteria require eligible applicants to be county residents, have a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and show evidence of financial need and a commitment to community service through volunteer or employment activities. Applications are available online at aauwmd-annearundelcountybranch.org or from the financial aid office at AACC.

Internship participation

AACC invites employers to participate in the college's internship program. Students from a broad range of disciplines would like to be a part of an internship to receive real-world experience and mentoring from leaders in business, industry, government and nonprofit agencies and organizations. AACC video game tournament

A video game tournament sponsored by the AACC Student Association Campus Activities Board will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 and Thursday, Jan. 27 in the Student Dining Hall, 101 College Parkway, Arnold. Free. Information: 410-777-2043.

Nursing scholarships at AACC

Through 2014, three Anne Arundel Community College nursing students will receive $3,000 scholarships through a program set up by Johns Hopkins HealthCare. The scholarships will benefit county residents enrolled in the college's registered nursing associate of science degree program who demonstrate financial need as established by the AACC financial aid office.
