7 taken to hospital after school bus crash on U.S. 50

Seven people, including five children, were taken to a local hospital Tuesday morning in a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus on U.S. 50 in Anne Arundel County.

Lt. Cliff Kooser, a spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, said five school-age children and two adults were transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries. He said the crash occurred about 8:40 a.m. on westbound U.S. 50 near the interchange with Route 450. It involved two passenger vehicles and a special-needs school bus.

One of the adults taken to the hospital was an occupant of one of the passenger cars, Kooser said. The other six were aboard the school bus. Bob Mosier, a spokesman for the county school system, said the children were not injured but were taken too the hospital as a precaution and released later in the morning.

Mosier said the bus is owned and operated by the county. He said the children were on their way to the Central Special School in Edgewater when the crash occurred.
