Two teens charged in Edgewater high school attack

Anne Arundel County police charged two teens with assault Thursday, and both are accused of knocking another student unconscious at South River High School earlier this month.

Officers were called to the Edgewater high school Oct. 6 after Jacob Dick, 17, of Gambrills, allegedly assaulted another student, causing other students to intervene, police said. While those students attempted to help the victim, police said Vernon Kilory Johnson, 17, Annapolis, then punched the victim again after he had been knocked out by Dick, sending the teen victim to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Dick and Johnson were charged as adults and face first- and second-degree assault and related charges.

The victim was released from the hospital and continues to recover, police said.
