Neighbor rescues man from fire in Glen Burnie

A neighbor came to a 57-year-old man's rescue after flames broke out at a single-family home in Glen Burnie Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

Fire crews were called at 2:43 p.m. to the 100 block of Garrett Road for a one-alarm fire and reports of occupants trapped, but the neighbor pulled the man to safety, said Division Chief Michael Cox with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The victim was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center and treated for minor injuries, Cox said. The neighbor who pulled the man from the home was not injured, he said, and no one else was inside the home when the fire broke out.

Cox said it took 26 firefighters about 25 minutes to extinguish the flames, which originated inside the one-story home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Cox said.
