'Enhancing Brain Function'

Anne Arundel Community College's 4-A Day program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 101 College Parkway in Arnold. In this class, participants can learn how to maximize brain health and vitality through memory and learning techniques, learn stress management methods, discover foods that aid the brain, and find ways to minimize the risk of Alzheimer's disease. Open house

AACC's Peer Learning Partnership holds an open house at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the Florestano Building, Room 101, on the Arnold campus. Partnership consists of a group of life-long learners who meet for exceptional noncredit classes, discussion groups and cultural and social events. Program has no academic requirements for membership but participants must join the program to register for classes. Open to those age 16 and older. Information: 410-777-2325.

Zumba class

AACC's Student Association Campus Activities Board sponsors this class at 5 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Cade Center for Fine Arts, Room 103, 101 College Parkway, Arnold. Free. Information: 410-777-2043.

Nursing scholarships

Beginning this fall and continuing through 2014, three Anne Arundel Community College nursing students will receive $3,000 scholarships through a program set up by Johns Hopkins HealthCare. The scholarships will benefit students who demonstrate financial need as established by the AACC Financial Aid Office, are Anne Arundel County residents and enrolled in the college's registered nursing associate of science degree program. Fall registration

The Arnold Senior Center's fall classes begin the week of Oct. 4. Registration is under way for a variety of classes, including exercise, history, art, language and writing. Registration ends after the second week of classes. Students younger than 60 pay a $40 per-class fee. Students older than 60 do not pay a per-class fee. The center is at 44 Church Road. Solar panel installation class

The Baltimore Building Congress and Exchange Foundation has donated $4,500 to Anne Arundel Community College Foundation Inc. to fund scholarships for those enrolled in the college's new solar panel installation class. The course is offered Oct. 19 through Dec. 14. Information: 410-777-2056.
