'Prayer on the Lawn'

Service takes place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road in Pasadena. Service provides the opportunity for the community to remember those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks. Included in the service will be scripture readings, a brief meditation period and a hymn written to commemorate 9/11. Information: 410-255-8236.


Annual celebration

St. Paul's Lutheran Church holds its annual "Bless the Years Celebration" on Sept. 25 and 26 at the church, 308 Oak Manor Drive in Glen Burnie. The event is to help people recognize and celebrate each year that's added to their lives as a gift from God and to respond with renewed commitment and service. Activities include a luncheon for those 55 and older at noon Sept. 25. Michael Walter, along with A Poor Man's Band, provides the musical entertainment. At the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship service Sept. 26, all senior members and guests 55 and older will be recognized and a special tribute will be given to those 80 and older. The Rev. A jamboree will be held with food, games and entertainment at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Grace Baptist Church, 17 Somerset Road in Pasadena. Event also features a chili cook-off, dessert competition and a talent show. Admission is free. Information: 410-255-5616.

Bible class

A monthly Bible class using clips from movies for a discussion, "The Jesus I Never Knew," will be held at noon the first Wednesday of the month for the next several months at Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road in Pasadena. The class will look at excerpts from movies, including "Gospel Road," "King of Kings" and "The Gospel According to Matthew." Viewpoints portrayed will be compared with what the Bible teaches about Jesus. Free. Information: 410-255-8236 or
