American Red Cross

Volunteers ages 14 and older are needed to help with blood drives. Volunteers greet donors, provide customer service and serve refreshments. Participants must complete an application and attend an orientation/training session. People older than 18 must undergo a background check. Annapolis Language Bank

The Arc

Volunteers are needed at the Arc of Central Chesapeake Region to help with fundraising, office assistance, special events and to serve on the board of directors. The Arc is also looking for volunteers to join its Quality Enhancement Committee.

Chesapeake Arts Center

The Chesapeake Arts Center seeks volunteers 16 and older to serve as ushers and at the box office for performances at the Hammonds Lane and/or Studio 194 theaters. County clearinghouse

The Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County is a clearinghouse for information about volunteering throughout the county. Help is needed to assist with the database, newsletter and new youth service activities and with maintaining online volunteer matching applications. Electronics Museum

The National Electronics Museum at 1745 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum seeks volunteers 14 and older for education and outreach, special events, as an administrative assistant, collections assistants and for visitor services. Training will be provided. Information: 410-765-0230.

Secure the Call

Secure the Call, a local agency that redistributes used and unwanted cell phones as 911 emergency-only phones, needs volunteers 18 and older to place collection barrels. Information: 301-891-2900.

Support groups

Volunteers 25 and older are needed to lead support groups for early-stage Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Volunteers must be licensed nurses or social workers with knowledge of the progression of the disease and have strong communication and group-support management skills. Wildlife sanctuary

The Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary treats and cares for injured and orphaned animals and, if possible, releases them back into the wild. Volunteers who can commit to working at least one morning a week are needed to feed, water and clean for various animals. Information: 410-798-0193 or wildlifesanctuary.us/dws.

Youth Services Bureau

Mentors are needed for youth ages 5-18. Training will be provided and a background check is required. Volunteers are also needed for educational and cultural activities for children.
