Three regional concert series are gearing up for their 2010-2011 season.
South County Concert Association
First up is the South County Concert Association, which opens its 35th season Sept. 21 with "The Great American Songbook," which is a celebration of Broadway productions.
On Oct. 29, Frank Sinatra is represented as Steve Lippia offers his "Simply Sinatra" tribute concert.
Next up is a special "Celebration of Christmas" concert by the Annapolis Chorale on Dec. 11.
New Hampshire's "Ambassadors to the World," Rick and Ron Shaw, take the stage Jan. 14 with a blend of traditional, contemporary and original songs interspersed with humorous tales.
On Feb. 28, Quartetto Gelato, a clarinet, cello and violin ensemble, will present a program of classical showpieces.
The season closes April 11 with Destino, an award-winning trio of Canadian tenors who will offer a program of contemporary music with classical flair.
Performing Arts Association of Linthicum
On Oct. 9, the Performing Arts Association of Linthicum opens its 28th season with a tribute to superstars Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra. Sharon Owens and Sebastian Anzaldo will create a concert by this legendary duo that never happened.
PAAL's season continues Nov. 7 with the Lindsay Family of five musical performers.
On Feb. 13, Live Arts Maryland will bring an all-star cast of professional singers backed by the full Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Chamber Orchestra. Director J. Ernest Green will create a Broadway-type costumed version of a timeless Rogers and Hammerstein musical.
On April 17, Daniel Narducci offers his lustrous baritone to PAAL's audience in a concert of classics and Broadway favorites.
On May 7, the Anne Arundel Community College Dance Company will make its PAAL debut with a high-spirited show featuring a variety of dance.
PAAL's season closes May 19 with a free bonus concert by the U.S. Navy Band of Washington.
PAAL, which performs at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park, offers season subscriptions for $49. Any PAAL subscriber or adult purchasing a single ticket can bring along students ages 6 to 22 for free. Subscribers can bring guests for $15 each. Anne Arundel Community Concert Association
The Anne Arundel Community Concert Association opens its 59th season with the classic folk favorites, the New Christy Minstrels, on Oct. 26.
Next is a program of classical favorites by leading American pianist Thomas Pandolfi, who returns by popular request in an encore performance Dec. 8.
Country music star Buddy Jewell will present his award-winning program Feb. 17.
On April 12, the Wind Soloists of New York will perform works by Samuel Barber, Francis Poulenc, Beethoven and Mozart.
The AACCA season closes May 15, when the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra will offer music from a wide symphonic repertoire under the direction of Anna Binneweg.
The Severna Park-based AACCA and SCCA offer subscriptions for $45, or $55 for one parent plus children and $100 for two parents plus children. Subscribers can attend all concerts in AACCA's five-concert series and SCCA's six-concert series.
