Swimming warning for Pasadena's Bayside Beach lifted

Anne Arundel County health officials lifted a warning Tuesday afternoon against swimming at Bayside Beach in Pasadena, as the heat index topped 100 degrees.

The advisory against coming in contact with the water was issued last week after unacceptably high levels of bacteria were found in water samples. However, new testing showed lower levels.

But also Tuesday, health officials issued a warning against swimming, jet skiing and otherwise coming into contact with water at nearby Rockwood Beach, also in Pasadena, due to elevated bacteria levels. Anyone who comes into contact with the water is advised to wash well with soap and warm water immediately. Clothing should be washed, too. The advisory signs may be removed if the bacteria levels drop in two consecutive days of testing.
