Anne Arundel police seek killers of Brooklyn Park man

Anne Arundel County police said Friday that they know of no motive in the shooting of a Brooklyn Park man killed in his pickup truck in front of his home Thursday afternoon.

Residents of the community were planning a candlelight vigil Friday night for Adam Ray Bucklew, 21, remembering him as a pleasant man who had recently been promoted at work.

Police received a call about a shooting in the 400 block of Audrey Ave. about 5:30 p.m., and arrived to find Bucklew shot in his Dodge Dakota, in front of the home where he lived with his parents just outside Baltimore.

"He's a really super-nice guy, has the biggest heart and he'd do anything for anybody," said Nancy Hartman, who manages the Charlie Ward carryout around the corner. She said she knew Bucklew for years and saw him navigate rough patches along with good ones. Bucklew had worked there as a teen and, more recently, stopped by almost nightly just before closing, she said.

"Usually, every night he'd come in and get a pack of cigarettes and get a soda and say good night," Hartman recalled Friday. "It was very hard here last night."

She said Bucklew had told her he was thinking about enlisting in the military.

"He worked with cars," she said. "He told me the other day that he had just gotten a promotion," and she said that he was elated.

Hartman said Bucklew had become a father several months ago with his girlfriend and that "he loved that baby."

She said she planned to attend the vigil and hoped it would ease his family's distress. Hartman said she hopes police catch Bucklew's killer.

Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said police were looking for two men seen running toward Baltimore.

One was described as black male in his late teens to early 20s, about 5 feet 11 and 190 pounds, with a bald head and a large tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and baggy brown shorts.

The other was described as a black male in his late teens to early 20s, wearing a light-colored tank top and brown baggy shorts.

Police said it was the third homicide in Anne Arundel County this year.
