The Volunteer Center for Anne Arundel County and the Anne Arundel Mentoring Roundtable recently announced the winners of their fourth annual Mentoring Poster Contest. All school-age children in the county were invited to submit poster designs that displayed how a mentor has helped a child be a better person.
The winning designs will be showcased in Marley Station mall on the second floor between the Footlocker and Oriental Treasures stores through the end of the month.
The Anne Arundel Mentoring Roundtable is an organization whose mission is to match Anne Arundel youth with adults who can offer a quality mentoring relationship, empowering kids, raising their self-esteem and enhancing their career options.
The winners were:
Social Consciousness Award: Deonta White, Annapolis Middle School, age 12
Multicultural Award: Katherine Rivera, Annapolis High School, age 15
1st place, high school: Chelsey Franklin, Annapolis High School, age 17
2nd place, high school: Marylyn Harrel, Annapolis High School, age 15
3rd place, high school: Sharae Jackson, Annapolis High School, age 16
1st place, middle school: Rachel Sarkady, age 12, and Mackenzie Kirschner, age 12, both Severn River Middle School
2nd place, middle school: Stephen Cunningham, age 12 and Kenny Harris IV, age 13, both Severn River Middle School
3rd place, middle school: Alexis Superczynski, Severn River Middle School, age 12
4th place, middle school: Dwayne Curtis Jr., Annapolis Middle School, age 14
Elementary school: Dae Shawn Mayfield, Maryland City Elementary School, age 6
