Nursing scholarships

Beginning this fall and continuing through 2014, three Anne Arundel Community College nursing students will receive a $3,000 scholarship through a program set up by Johns Hopkins HealthCare to help with their educational costs. The scholarship is to benefit students who demonstrate financial need as established by the AACC Financial Aid Office, are Anne Arundel County residents and enrolled in the college's Registered Nursing Associate of Science Degree program. Pottery classes

An eight-week day or evening course for beginners or advanced students titled "Basic Pottery Wheel" starts Monday, June 21, or Wednesday, June 23, at the Chesapeake Arts Center, 194 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn. Course teaches centering, shaping and forming bowls, cylinders and plates as well as decorative glazing techniques. Summer registration

Registration is under way for summer classes offered by Anne Arundel Community College at the seven senior activity centers operated by the county Department of Aging and Disabilities.
