Man killed in Arundel crash may have been racing

A man who police suspect may have been trying to race another driver died Sunday morning in a single-car crash in Pasadena. The driver's name was withheld pending notification of his family. The person was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Camaro on westbound Route 100 near Catherine Avenue around 7:20 a.m. when he suddenly accelerated, apparently in an attempt to engage another driver in a race, said Lt. J.D. Batten of the Anne Arundel County Police. The car went onto the grass median and struck a tree, Batten said. The driver, whose name was being withheld pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene.
