Lecture on Faris

Author/historian Jean Russo will deliver a lecture titled “William Faris: Craftsman, Gardener, Diarist, Annapolitan,” at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s College’s Francis Scott Key Auditorium, 60 College Ave., Annapolis. The event is free. Call 410-626-2507.

Apply to school

The Monarch Academy Public Charter School has begun accepting applications for students for the 2010-2011 school year and has scheduled open houses and informational sessions for parents and prospective students.

Students living in Anne

Arundel County and entering kindergarten, first, second, fifth and sixth grades can apply at www.monarchcharter.org. Applications are due by April 15.

The Glen Burnie school is holding informational sessions from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and March 25 and April 8. Open houses, which require reservations, are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. March 24 and April 7. Call the school at 410-760-2072 for reservations. The school is at 6730 Baymeadow Drive.

Spring registration

Registration for spring classes offered by Anne Arundel Community College is taking place at the seven senior centers operated by the Department of Aging and Disabilities.

Classes begin the first week of April. Schedules are available at aacounty.com/ aging. For information, call the center.
