Two sisters in Laurel were jailed without bond after they told Anne Arundel County police that one of them fatally stabbed a man last month as they tried to collect on a drug debt.
Latisha Montia Adams, 21, and Patrice Rashah Dove, 20, of the 300 block of Cokeland South, Laurel, were charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, drug distribution and related counts, said Lt. James Fredericks. The women told police that Adams stabbed Jamal Medina, 22, when they fought with Medina as they tried to collect money he owed Adams, charging documents in the cases allege.
Medina collapsed about 1:45 a.m. Dec. 21 on Red Clay Road near Route 198, not far from his apartment. He had been stabbed in the left arm and upper body, and his heart had stopped when paramedics arrived.
The women told detectives that they met with Medina to collect on the debt and got into a fight with him, according to charging documents. Adams "admitted to stabbing the victim," the documents state. Dove also agreed to speak with police, and told them her sister stabbed Medina several times, according to charging paperwork.
Adams had robbery and other charges pending in Prince George's County, court records show.
Medina, whose long court record included convictions for attempted auto theft, drug possession and assault, was charged with drug possession a week before he was killed, according to court records.
