The last of three suspected gunmen in a 2008 shooting in Odenton that killed two men and wounded two others pleaded guilty Thursday in an agreement that will mean a life sentence.

Damon Daryl Dodd, 32, of Baltimore, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and a handgun charge. At sentencing next month, Anne Arundel prosecutors will seek a life term, plus 20 years for the weapons conviction. Dodd's attorney, John McKenna, is expected to ask Circuit Judge William C. Mulford II for less time.

Terrance Covington, 24, and Demarcus Beans, 20, both of Annapolis, were killed and two others wounded when their car was ambushed Nov. 16, 2008, in a parking lot at the Traffic Bar and Lounge near Fort Meade.

"I'm happy, justice was served," said Robert Beans Jr., father of one of the victims.

In December, a co-defendant received the longest prison sentence in recent memory in the county: Russell K. Harden, 27, who was on house arrest for violating terms of release on a federal gun conviction at the time of the shootings, was sentenced to five life sentences, two without parole, plus 20 years.

The motive, according to the third shooter, was a belief that the victims had bothered Kecia Liverpool, Harden's then-pregnant girlfriend, who is facing trial in April as the alleged getaway driver.
