Officials recovered the bodies of two men Monday who’d been out crabbing in Stoney Creek, a Maryland Natural Resources Police spokesperson said.

The bodies of Mark Vetock, 27, of Glen Burnie and Tevin Calhoun, 27, of Pasadena, were recovered in the Riviera Beach area near Pasadena, said Capt. Melissa Scarborough, of Maryland Natural Resources Police. One was recovered Monday morning, and the second later in the day, although the exact timing is unclear.

The crabbers had been reported missing Saturday after going out on the water. Another boater discovered a debris field in the creek, including a cooler, beer cans and a flotation device, Scarborough said. The Coast Guard was notified around 5 p.m. Saturday, said U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson Corinne Zilnicki.

Officials found an ID in the cooler, Zilnicki said, and the search began.

Natural Resources Police don’t know yet what may have caused the deaths, although bad weather in the area on Saturday may have been to blame, Scarborough said.
