Services for two members of the Capital Gazette staff killed in last week’s shooting at the Annapolis newsroom have been set.
On Sunday the family of Rebecca Smith, a sales assistant with the newspaper, will host a visitation for family and friends from 2 p.m to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home, 7922 Wise Ave., Dundalk. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m.
Graveside services for Gerald Fischman, The Capital’s editorial page editor, will be private as requested by the family, and not open to the public.
Fischman and Smith died June 28 when they and three other staffers — assistant editor and columnist Rob Hiaasen, community reporter and editor Wendi Winters and sports and community reporter John McNamara — were killed in an attack at the newspaper.
Services for the others have been previously announced. A memorial service for Winters will take place Saturday at noon at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St., Annapolis, with a reception at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis.
Next Tuesday, July 10, a memorial service for McNamara will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 10 at the University of Maryland College Park Chapel.
And on Monday, hundreds of people attended a celebration of the life for Hiaasen at the Irvine Nature Center in Owings Mills.
NOTE: This story has been updated to reflect that Mr. Fischman’s services are private.
