Police make arrest in Brooklyn Park motel robbery

Anne Arundel County police say they arrested a man in connection with the robbery of the Park Plaza Motel in the Brooklyn Park area on Thursday

Police said around 6 p.m. officers responded to the motel at 4900 Ritchie Highway. Police said the motel clerk told them a man walked around the motel lobby, then walked to a doorway and entered the front desk area where the clerk was located.

He pulled out a large knife and demanded money, police said. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. After taking it, the man fled. The clerk was not injured.

Police said after the robbery, an officer saw a man matching the description of the suspect walking in the area, and he was developed as a supect.

On Friday, Edward Michael Dawson, 34, of E. Patapsco Ave. was arrested, and was charged with robbery of the motel, and also the Dec. 4 robbery of the Boost Mobile store at 5019 Ritchie Hwy.
