One seriously injured in fire at Severn residence, Anne Arundel Fire Department says

A person was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday evening as Anne Arundel County firefighters controlled a blaze at a Severn residence, authorities said.

Anne Arundel County Police tweeted that officers and the county’s mobile crisis team responded to the 100 block of Gambrills Road at about 7 p.m. for an “unknown disturbance” involving a person who was suffering a mental health crisis, and observed smoke at the residence.

An occupant of the residence was taken to a hospital in serious condition, according to the county fire department, which said the blaze was controlled by about 8:30 p.m.

Both the police and fire departments said they are investigating the matter.
