Anne Arundel delays start of school at 12 sites

Construction projects will delay the opening of school by one day for 12 schools in Anne Arundel County, the system announced Wednesday.

The schools that will now begin the new school year on Wednesday, Aug. 24 are: Brock Bridge, Brooklyn Park, Four Seasons, Germantown, Linthicum, Pershing Hill, Severn, Sunset, and Woodside elementary schools; West Meade Early Education Center; and Glen Burnie High.

The school system starts middle and high school students on staggered schedules, as well as prekindergarten and kindergarten students. Therefore, at Glen Burnie High, only ninth-graders will report Aug. 24; the other grades will start Aug. 25. In addition, parents with pre-K and kindergarten students at West Meade and the 10 elementary schools will learn their children's first day of school at parent-teacher conferences that begin Aug. 24.
