Arundel investigators seek tips in Pasadena barn fire

Anne Arundel County fire investigators are seeking help in determining who set a Pasadena barn on fire early Sunday.

At about 2:30 a.m., firefighters were called to the 8300 block of Schmidts Lane, where a 40-foot by 25-foot barn was completely engulfed in flames, said Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff, a county Fire Department spokesman.

It took 35 firefighters about three hours to put out the fire. The blaze caused $50,000 in damage to the barn, which was used for storage, Pfaltzgraff said.

One firefighter, a 22-year-old man, suffered a minor leg injury and was treated at Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie.

Investigators said the fire may have started due to suspicious circumstances and they are seeking tips in the case, Pfaltzgraff said.
