A seven-member military panel has found a Naval Academy midshipman guilty of raping and sexually assaulting a female midshipman.
Twenty-year-old Midshipman 3rd Class Patrick Edmond of Jackson, Miss., was found not guilty of sodomy late Wednesday at a court-martial at the Washington Navy Yard.
Prosecutors said Edmond raped his classmate in her dorm room in October. Edmond testified that the sex was consensual.
Academy officials tell The Capital of Annapolis that Edmond will be expelled. — The Associated Press
