A 73-year-old Annapolis woman was killed and a man and woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Route 3 in Millersville on Friday afternoon, according to Anne Arundel County police and fire officials.
The collision occurred about 12:45 p.m. along southbound Route 3, near the ramp for Route 32, said Chief Keith Swindle, a fire department spokesman.
Traffic investigators determined that a Subaru Legacy came off the ramp from Route 32 onto Route 3 and collided with a Nissan Murano, police said. Police said neither excessive speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, and all drivers were wearing seat belts.
The woman, identified as Celeste Leffingwell Loftin of the 2000 block of Willow Hill Road, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Terry Lynn Delorge, 53, of Glen Burnie, who was driving the Nissan, and Thomas Delorge, 63, who was in the passenger seat, were transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Swindle said. Police said their seat belts and airbags prevented more serious injuries.
The collision closed Route 3 southbound, as well as the ramps from Route 32 and Route 97 onto southbound Route 3.
The accident is in the same location along Route 3 as a six-vehicle crash that killed three people, including a child, in August. That accident also injured six others.
Mulcahy said despite being in the same location, the "dynamics of the collisions are completely different."
Mulcahy said traffic was light at the time, and "no environmental roadway factors came into play" in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
