Three luxury cars were stolen from a Glen Burnie auto dealership early Thursday and Anne Arundel County police arrested a suspect they said was driving one of the missing cars nearby just hours later.
Police found the KB Auto Emporium at 7603 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. ransacked on Thursday morning, with a window smashed and a safe left open. Three cars -- a 2008 Chrysler 300, a 2006 BMW 750i and a 2007 Mercedes 350 -- were stolen, the owner told police. An unknown number of new vehicle tags were also missing.
A suspect was seen entering the dealership and leaving in the Mercedes, police said.
Just past 10 p.m. on Thursday, police tried to stop a Mercedes 350 – later determined to be the one that was stolen – at Hidden Brook Drive and Crain Highway. The driver fled and crashed the car, then tried to run away before he was caught by police.
Police charged the suspect, Raheem Anderson, 44, of Glen Burnie, with second and fourth-degree burglary, theft and malicious destruction of property. He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail Friday and no attorney was listed for him in court records.
The Chrysler was found unoccupied and disabled on Browns Cove Road, police said. The BMW has yet to be found.
