Annapolis Market House to reopen

Annapolis' historic Market House is ready to reopen.

City officials plan to reopen the renovated market Monday morning and introduce the new vendors who will occupy the centuries old downtown location near City Dock.

The market first opened in 1788 and the current building was built in 1856 and renovated in 1972. In recent years, however, it has been mostly vacant as previous revitalization efforts have been beset by air conditioning issues and legal disputes.

City officials say the market has been renovated to serve those who live, work, dock, and visit downtown. The new vendors include an oyster bar, deli, bistro, produce stand, coffee shop and art dealer.
