Police say they arrested a Virginia man Friday who tried to bring a 9 mm handgun in his carry-on bag at BWI Marshall Airport, the third straight day they caught someone with a gun at the airport.
The latest man was not named, but he lives in Hopewell, Va., according to the Transportation Security Administration. Officials said he told them he was carrying a bag he usually takes to the firing range, and he didn’t know the unloaded gun was inside.
On Wednesday and again on Thursday, Anne Arundel County residents were caught with guns at the airport, according to the TSA. In both cases, officers detected the guns with the X-ray machines.
Authorities have recovered 14 handguns at the airport so far this year. Last year, they found 22 firearms.
