Golf tournament
Archbishop Spalding High School will host the 22nd annual Lt. James Love Alumni Golf Tournament on June 5 at the Queenstown Harbor Golf Course. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The event was established in memory of Lt. James H. Love, a 1977 graduate of Spalding, who was a Navy pilot killed during Operation Desert Shield. Proceeds from the tournament benefit Spalding students.
Tournament sponsorship opportunities are available for $2,500, contest sponsorships for $1,500, corporate foursomes for $750, foursomes for $600, individuals for $150, young alumni players (class of 2004 and after) for $125, and tee sign sponsorships for $150. Registration includes greens fees, a gift bag, and lunch and dinner catered by Adam's Ribs of Eastport. In addition, players will have the opportunity to participate a longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one competitions. 'Critter Hour'
Visitors can join educators from the museum from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St. Be prepared to get wet and muddy as participants explore oyster habitats, catch crabs and wade in the water to catch Chesapeake Bay critters. Equipment collection
The Oriole Advocates will collect new and used sports equipment at Prince George's Stadium Saturday, May 31, as the Bowie Baysox take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 6:35 p.m. The organization collects the equipment for its Cardboard to Leather program, which provides equipment to underprivileged children in developing countries. Baseball and softball bats, balls, gloves, uniforms, bags and spikes are needed. Baseball gloves, duffel bags and usable helmets are the hardest items to acquire. If not attending the game, fans can bring donations to the team's office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Information: baysox.com
Trip
The Captain Avery Museum is offering a trip to the Allenberry Resort Inn and Playhouse in Boiling Springs, Pa., on July 15 to see the musical, "42nd Street." Guests will board buses and leave from the Kmart in Edgewater at 9 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. Deadline for reservations is Monday, June 9. Register your bike
The Annapolis Police Department is sponsoring a bicycle registration program. The owner's name, address and phone number and the bike's serial number, manufacturer and color are recorded in the department's database. Registration is available to any Annapolis resident.
