Retailer Gabriel Brothers Inc. opened the company's new Gabe¹s store in at teh East Park Shopping Center in Glen Burnie on April 5.
The store, with more than 50,000 square feet of space, is the company¹s first new store in 2014. Officials said the retailer has plans to open eight other stores in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
Ken Seipel, CEO of Gabriel Brothers, said the Glen Burnie store, in the former Wal-Mart space in the 7900 block of Crain Highway, "will be one of our first prototype stores as we begin to accelerate the company¹s growth by adding our second store in the Baltimore area."
The company hosted a job fair last month to fill up to 125 positions at the Glen Burnie store.
The Gabe's stores tout brand apparels at discounts compared to department stores. The opening included special offers, prizes, food and music.The store manager is Joshua Harris.
Founded in 1961, Gabriel Brothers Inc. is a privately-held discount fashion retailer headquartered in Morgantown, W. Va. The company operates 38 stores throughout Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
