Anne Arundel County Animal Control officials are looking for help in finding who shot a cat with a 2-foot-long arrow in Davidsonville last week.
The orange, long-haired cat, named Xena, had lived outdoors in the 3000 block of Riva Road. A woman who had sometimes fed Xena found her on Wednesday with an arrow poking through her shoulder, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Police said Xena was skittish and it took until Friday before Animal Control officers could capture her. The Rude Ranch Animal Rescue in Harwood took Xena from animal control officials, and took her to Belair Veterinary Hospital in Bowie for treatment.
"She's doing really well, considering she got shot with an arrow," said Kathy Rude, co-founder of Rude Ranch. "She got really lucky. It missed everything important."
Xena is healing well, but she's still scared, Rude said.
Anyone with information regarding the incident may call Animal Control at 410-222-8900, or police at 410-222-8610.
"We're hoping somebody will come forward," said Justin Mulcahy, a police spokesman.
