Two Prince George’s County men were arrested and charged with stealing iPhones from an Annapolis store after police say they stole the smartphones from a display case and crashed their car fleeing from officers.

Annapolis police wrote in a release that officers first responded to the T-Mobile store on Bay Ridge Road at 11:26 a.m. for a report of two men whole stole three iPhones from a display.

The department said the responding officer saw a vehicle the men were said to be leaving in driving on Bay Ridge Avenue near Bay Ridge Road and attempted to pull the driver over.

Police said the driver instead tried to elude the officer, but struck a tree after he turned down Primrose Road.

The two men inside the vehicle then fled on foot, police said, but were later apprehended.

Police say the two men — Dasheem Smith, 28, of Suitland, and Jarred Brown, 30, of Hyattsville — suffered injuries in the crash and were taken to an area hospital for treatment before they were released and charged with felony theft and misdemeanor destruction of property.

Neither Brown nor Smith had attorneys listed as representing them in court records. Both are being held without bond pending bail review hearings today.
