An Annapolis teenager was wounded by gunfire Sunday night in the same neighborhood where a man was shot to death in October.
Police said they were called to Ben's Drive in the Bay Ridge Gardens apartment complex at 8:26 p.m. for reports of gunfire
Officers did not locate anyone injured but were called about 20 minutes later to Anne Arundel Medical Center for a gunshot victim.
The 17-year-old victim was taken to the hospital by family members. His injury was not considered life-threatening.
Detectives are investigating this incident. The shooting is believed to have occurred outside on Bens Drive or Marc Court.
It is the same neighborhood where Kory Johnson, 27, of Annapolis, was shot in the torso on Oct. 30. It was the only homicide in the city in 2018..
Officers responded to the neighborhood at 7:48 p.m. that night and found Johnson shot in front of his apartment. He was immediately transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
No arrests have been made in the homicide.
The drug trade and its associated brutality are not new in the community, with five murders in the last 12 years, according to police records. Residents have said they are afraid to come out of their apartments.
